Biography

Frederico Filippi is dedicated to researching political and cultural realities, bringing different approaches and questions to his production. His works are carried out using different techniques, such as painting, drawing, video and installation, interested in thematically (or allegorically) exploring the idea of memory and history: its uses, constructions, narratives, power games and representations. His creations do not reflect this in an obvious way, as the artist allows himself to be influenced by poetic narratives, customs and ways of thinking of other peoples and worlds. In this sense, Anthropology has an important place in Frederico's production, “it is an interesting counterweight that made me rethink and compare many things, and understand the world as multiple”.

“My work started in painting and drawing, and then went to other formats like video and construction, always with a strong attachment to images. I am interested in friction, friction and the encounter of two worlds, with my attention focused on the continent of South America. I think not only of the images wearing out and meeting each other, but of stories like the invasion and invention of our continent . More recently, the relationship between the capital frontier between industrial civilization and natural spaces, still seen as a commodity reserve, has also aroused my interest, and how these two fields reverberate with each other, that of materials and images and that of stories and policies, ”says Frederico Filippi.
