Yuri Firmeza is in an artistic residency at São Miguel dos Açores island, invited by Fuso Insular, to make a film that establishes relations between Brasil and Açores, from a traditional local celebration.
Firmeza will be filming the traditional Cavalhadas de São Pedro and its relationship with the patron saint, his image, and the church, which were unharmed during the volcanic eruption that occurred in 1563. During the filming, Yuri intends to propose the relationship between the natural disaster, the past colonialism, religiosity, and the staging of Cavalhada in the present moment, establishing parallels with the festivity in Brazil.
