When exploring in his artistic practice the knowledge acquired about Architecture and Urbanism, André Griffo demarcates his works based on the following strategies: that of relating the spaces he appropriated to historical and contemporary references. His work process involves recognizing empty spaces, identifying the traces left, and adding to them symbols and signs that highlight everyday problems.
Addressing such scenarios is essential to bring historical references to our time and thus create new narratives. This makes it possible for Griffo’s pictorial production to permeate the documentary and the fictional, exploring the connection between the disciplines of Art History and Architecture to social, Brazilian and / or world issues. With the overlapping of times and realities, Griffo’s works allow to expose the thoughts of the individuals of a certain society, their values and changes, and, on certain occasions, to witness the immutability of things.

He was awarded a scholarship for the artistic residency at the Vermont Studio Center (2019 - Johnson, USA) and has works in the collections of Itaú Cultural (São Paulo, Brazil), Instituto PIPA (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and the Museu de Arte do Rio (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil).
