The drawings in the Derrama series have a pre-established amount of material (powdered graphite, gold filings, etc.) that are transferred from one paper to another until that material runs out and it is no longer possible to repeat the operation.

Although the day of the Derrama happened only once, and despite the evasion schemes that would justify its institution, one of the consequences of the dissatisfaction generated by this measure was the Inconfidência Mineira, a separatist movement that was severely repressed by the government of Maria I, then queen of Portugal.
-
The gesture that generates the drawings, the pouring of gold filings or graphite on a specific space, the paper, gains different nuances according to the parameters used.
Whether through the use of paper sizes based on systems officially recognized by conventions such as the A, B and C series, underlying the industrial production of this support, what points to the standardization of the space where the design is formed (Derrama # 5); either on paper that has the shape of a credit card as reference, on which the gold filings are poured, impregnating its surface and leaving, on the paper on which it was placed, its counter-form, which turns it to an empty field delimited by the gold dust. -
