Biography

Ruan D'Ornellas develops artistic research that delves deeply into the appropriation of symbols and signs present in the Brazilian cultural imagination. His practice encompasses the investigation of identity art, exploring issues of national and personal identity that intertwine with artistic production. By focusing on the anthology of Brazilian folklore, he explores popular narratives, legends, myths and traditions that shape the collective repertoire of the country's culture, bringing to light forgotten or marginalized elements in contemporary times.

Furthermore, D'Ornellas incorporates philosophical reflections into his work, seeking to understand the role of art in society and in the construction of critical thinking. His approach is multidisciplinary, using painting, drawing and sculpture as means to express this complex intersection of themes. Through his work, he questions and reconfigures traditional symbols, proposing new interpretations that dialogue with the present, while paying homage to the past. This integration of folklore, philosophy and identity results in works that are both introspective and universal, offering a contemporary reading of Brazilian cultural roots.
