Biography

Born in Bangu, West Zone of Rio de Janeiro, Renata Leoa began her artistic work in a self-taught way during the covid-19 pandemic, in 2020. In the beginning, the practice of painting was outlined only as a hobby, and along the way Paths were revealed between the intense desire to live painting, its connections with life and relationships with its genealogies and ancestries.

Her paintings show everyday life, the streets, childhood memories, traffic and the approximations between landscapes in which the artist affectionately investigates the minutia of things, of gestures, and thus presents us with an attentive, unusual and layered look. Poetics is contaminated in the ordinariness of encounters with things in the world, and is also expanded in recent research and in the continuous discoveries in her studio.
