Andro de Silva Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, b. 1994

Andro de Silva has a degree in Fashion Design and began to develop his pictorial research in a self-taught way. Born and raised in Conjuntão, a housing complex located in Bangu, west of Rio de Janeiro, he found in the density of this architectural geometry a symbolic substrate for the articulation of his painting.

His works provoke tension in the support through the use of images from different sources, giving them an installation and sculptural character. Andro explores the boundaries of painting, having it as a beginning and a middle, but not necessarily as an end.

His research has the suburbs of the city as its epicenter, which flows into images of the carnival in Rio de Janeiro, Christian iconography, spiritist illustrations and images from the internet, often applied in appropriate supports from the world or designed for his works.
